The journey

Iceland's most iconic routes, at your own pace

This eight-day journey links three of Iceland’s most rewarding regions in one beautifully paced route. Begin in West Iceland’s lava fields, waterfalls and saga landscapes before exploring the diverse Snaefellsnes Peninsula, crowned by its iconic glacier volcano. Head north to the volcanic playground of Lake Myvatn, mighty Dettifoss and whale-rich Husavík, then continue through Akureyri and the lesser-known gems of North West Iceland. The route concludes with the legendary Golden Circle and Reykjavik’s vibrant capital, followed by the raw geothermal landscapes of Reykjanes. A rich blend of classics and lesser-visited scenery.

1West Iceland & Borgarfjordur
West Iceland & Borgarfjordur

The lava landscape of West Iceland is home to several lesser-known sights like the Grabrok crater and Glanni waterfall, just off road 1. A detour into the Borgarfjordur area will take you to the unique Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls and Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring. The village of Reykholt on the way is steeped in saga history with a medieval centre and the oldest hot spring in Iceland. Hikers must take the road into the Hvalfjordur fjord for the exhilarating hike along a canyon and through caves to the 198m-tall Glymur waterfall.
