The journey

Iceland's most iconic routes, at your own pace

This eight-day adventure explores the diverse landscapes of North Iceland and the Snaefellsnes peninsula, blending iconic sights with off-the-beaten-path regions. Begin in West Iceland among lava fields, waterfalls and powerful hot springs before discovering Snaefellsnes, often called “Iceland in miniature,” crowned by its glacier volcano. Continue north to thundering Dettifoss waterfall, the geological wonders of the Diamond Circle and whale-rich Husavík. Scenic coastal drives around the Troll and Vatnsnes peninsulas reveal historic fishing villages, turf houses and seal colonies. The journey concludes in Reykjavik and the otherworldly landscapes of Reykjanes.

1West Iceland & Borgarfjordur
West Iceland & Borgarfjordur

The lava landscape of West Iceland is home to several lesser-known sights like the Grabrok crater and Glanni waterfall, just off road 1. A detour into the Borgarfjordur area will take you to the unique Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls and Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring. The village of Reykholt on the way is steeped in saga history with a medieval centre and the oldest hot spring in Iceland. Hikers must take the road into the Hvalfjordur fjord for the exhilarating hike along a canyon and through caves to the 198m-tall Glymur waterfall.
