Remote fjords, dramatic coastlines, and true Westfjords wilderness.
The journey
This five-day journey takes you deep into Iceland’s most remote and atmospheric region: the Westfjords. Begin in Isafjordur, exploring nearby fishing villages, scenic fjords, and hiking options. Travel south through mountain passes and quiet fjords to the iconic Dynjandi waterfall and the bird-filled cliffs of Latrabjarg. Discover the striking red sands of Raudasandur before following the jagged eastern fjords back toward IsafjordurBay. Along the way, encounter seals, historic turf houses, and dramatic coastal scenery rarely seen by visitors. A true off-the-beaten-path adventure through some of Iceland’s wildest landscapes.

What makes this journey
Day by day

The heart of the Northern Westfjords, the charming town of Isafjordur, offers a variety of options for exploring the surrounding fishing villages, adventure activities and day hikes. The surrounding fishing villages of Bolungarvik, Sudureyri and Flateyri are all within a 20-minute drive and provide insight into life in the Westfjords. Options for activities include sea kayaking in the fjord and bay, a super-jeep tour around the offbeat Svalvogar peninsula or a culture walk in the town. Hiking options are endless and range from all-day hikes to Hornstrandir or the Westfjords Alps, to shorter options in the mountains surrounding Isafjordur.
