The journey
Iceland's most iconic routes, at your own pace
Travel through some of Iceland's most remote and least-visited landscapes, from the historic valleys of Dalir to the rugged Westfjords and far northeastern coast. Explore colourful beaches, dramatic fjords, fishing villages and the spectacular Dynjandi waterfall before continuing through the remote Strandir region. Head north through the lesser-visited landscapes of Vatnsnes and the Troll Peninsula, then discover Lake Myvatn, Dettifoss and the Arctic Coast Way. Continue east through remote coastal regions and the secluded Eastfjords, with abundant birdlife, volcanic landscapes and charming villages along the way. The journey ends in Reykjavik after covering much of Iceland's wild northern and western coastline.

The itinerary in detail
The valleys of Dalir are steeped in history dating back to the Settlement of Iceland, as the main setting for many of Iceland's sagas and also where Eirikur “the Red” and his son Leifur Eiriksson lived. The unfrequented coastal route around Fellsstrond and Skardsstrond offers breathtaking views of the countless islands of Breidafjordur, with the backdrops of Snaefellsnes and the Westfjords.
